DataCrime enables a national and regional vision of public security issues, interconnecting interpretations on the occurrence of crimes, deaths, number of security agents and prison structure. The data presented were colected from three important sources: the Anuário Brasileiro de Segurança Pública, the DEPEN/INFOPEN and the Sistema de Informação sobre Mortalidade do Sistema Único de Saúde (SIM/DATASUS).
The Source of crime records data is the Anuário Brasileiro de Segurança Pública, while the death registry is obtained through DATASUS. In addition, the workforce of security workers is from the Anuário Brasileiro de Segurança Pública - except for data from the prison system workers that were obtained from INFOPEN. The remaining data from the prison system were taken from the DEPEN/INFOPEN of June 2014. The data will be updated annually according to the publication of the reports already mentioned. Prioritizing, whenever possible, the most recent data available.
The weighting per hundred thousand people was calculated with the data provided by Annual Population Projection report, from IBGE (according to the year of data analyzed).
DataCrime is an open tool that aims to assist students, teachers, managers and journalists interested in the subject. FGV / DAPP will regularly write posts and microanalyses using the databases.
